Bowen Technique To Reduce Joint Pain
This is one of the fastest growing therapies in the world now. With its incredible effectiveness and ease of use therapists from all fields are finding a use in their practice. This technique comes from Australia and was devised by a man named Tom Bowen.
THE TECHNIQUE
This technique consists of a series of specific moves across the tendons, muscles and fascia throughout the body. The therapists use thumbs and fingers to make the moves and apply an Eyeball Pressure i.e. a pressure, which can be comfortably applied to an eyeball. This however differs from patient to patient. The moves so applied are rolling type moves, which aim to disturb the muscles and the energy within the body. The work can be done through light clothing and it is to be noted that no oils are used.
In between each set of moves the therapist leaves the room for a short period so as to allow the body to process the information just given. This therapy involves extreme gentleness and there is a sort of interaction between the body and the therapist, which makes it different from all other therapies. Also the pressure applied is so light that the patient even doesn't feel the pressure.
HOW IT WORKS
Though the founder himself has not given any explanation of the working of this technique there are several other people giving explanations. One explanation is that the minimal push made by the therapist gives a certain sort of information to the brain through various receptors scattered throughout the body and then the structural integrity of the body is restored.
Another explanation says that each cell in our body is like a wireless transmitter tuned to specific frequency of that individual. So when certain areas are out of tune pain is the result. So by using this therapy i.e. by gently touching and moving certain parts of the body, a retuning takes place and the body is able to heal itself.
CONCLUSION
As this therapy includes the healing of the pain by the body itself so the people mostly prefer it. Moreover it is very gentle and is also very easy to learn. It is also very effective.
