If the period is by and large right on schedule and you're now late, you might well be pregnant. Some pregnant women do notice some light spotting around the time their period is due. This bleeding may happen due to the fertilized egg burrowing into the blood-rich lining of your uterus. It is a procedure that starts just 6 days after fertilization but no one knows for sure. And it's a lot lighter than a characteristic period. It is just a little spotting over a day or two. On the other hand, it's not rare to get your menses a few days late every once in a while. The best way to find out is to take a house pregnancy test.

Check of pregnancy

Pregnancy tests detect the incidence of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), a placental hormone that your body starts making more of around the time a fertilized egg implants in your uterus. These house tests are now able to detect fairly low levels of HCG. By the time your period is a few days late, you be supposed to be able to get a positive result if you're pregnant. For best results, use your primary urine of the morning, which is more concentrated so it should have more HCG, and follow the directions carefully. If you get a unenthusiastic result but your period still doesn't arrive in the next week, repeat the test.

Conclusion

In the meantime, if you spot once more or if you feel other symptoms such as pelvic or abdominal pain, dizziness, or lightheadedness, call your practitioner immediately so you can be evaluated to make sure that you don't have an ectopic pregnancy. You may contain an ectopic pregnancy even if you don't get a positive result on a pregnancy test. A small quantity of bleeding or cramping may also be a sign of impending miscarriage, but some women do spot for no discernable reason in the first trimester with a normal pregnancy. If you do get your era instead of a positive pregnancy test and haven't yet scheduled a preconception visit with a midwife or doctor, consider doing so now.

What is the period cramps and the problem caused by the period cramps: most of the women in the menstrual period or at the time of periods suffer from the cramps in the body; those cramps are called the period cramps or menstrual cramps. Menstrual cramps, that is also called as dysmenorrhea in medical terms may be primary or secondary. You may also suffer from the nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, a headache, or lightheadedness. Most of these problems start one or two days before your menstrual period and last for part of or all of your menstrual period.

What is the reason of the period cramps: generally the cramps in the menstrual period are caused by contractions of your uterus, as in this period the blood leaves the uterus. The lining of the uterus releases special substances called "prostaglandins." These elements increase the contractions and can cause nausea and lightheadedness which eventually leads to the period cramps. When you are having usual menstrual periods, or when you are ovulating i.e. when your ovaries release an egg each month, your body releases more "prostaglandins". At the first or second menstrual period, it is common for the women to not to have regular menstrual periods and they may not release eggs or ovulate for a few months, or even for a few years. But after some menstrual periods you may start getting the menstrual cramps when your hormonal system gets matured.

What to do at the time of the period cramps: at the time of period cramps the women can try the a heating pad or a warm bath to help to decrease the pain. Sometimes the exercise also helps at the time of the menstrual pain but sometimes it is very uncomfortable to exercise at the time of the periods. You should take rest, eat a healthy diet and drink lots of fluids to avoid the cramps. It is also better to consult with your doctor.

Brain Cramps would be fewer related to your electrolyte balance and more related to your muscles working hard and then sort of getting stuck in one position. For instance, a foot or calf cramp during the swim leg of an Iron man is not due to an electrolyte imbalance, it would be caused by the muscles in the foot or calf contracting in one position too long. Pointing the toes when you swim long distances may reason the muscles on the bottom of the foot to cramp.

More of the brain cramps

Stretching the offending muscle can generally alleviate fatigue Cramps. So, if your calf cramps up, start responsibility a calf stretch. If it happens in the focus of your swim, you may have to improvise this stretch by reaching down and pulling your foot/toes upwards toward your shin. Another modus operandi is to contract the antagonist muscle until the cramped muscle relaxes, then stretch the cramped muscle. For instance, if your hamstring cramps, contract your quads until the hamstring releases. If your calf cramps, contract your shin muscles awaiting the calf releases. But better yet is to stretch all well before you start exercising so that the muscles are loose to begin with. And leg cramps during the swim do occur – most probable due to the fact that the majority of triathletes train in a pool where pushing off the walls and resting between sets allows the calves to stretch out. That doesn't occur during a race, and the calves are more prone to cramping.

Conclusion

Brain Cramps require to be stretched as well, but until the electrolyte imbalance is corrected, they won't disappear. And here's the real kicker – if one muscle group is cramping since your system is low in sodium, it's quite likely that other muscle groups are not far behind. So, when you pull your heel towards your ram to stretch your cramping quad, don't be surprised if your hamstring goes into spasm. It is much harder to stretch out cramps when your electrolyte inequity is off. So, the best way to stop this is to make sure that you take in enough sodium during a race to prevent hyponatremia – or low sodium levels. If cramping is occurrence well after exercise had stopped, like in the middle of the night, it's likely that you are still not in an electrolyte balance, you may be dehydrated, or you just didn't stretch things out properly after you finished exercising.

Disturbance in the bad cramps

Electrolyte disturbance may lead to cramping and tetany of muscles, particularly hypokalemia and hypocalcemia. Menstruation also is highly expected to cause cramps of varying severity in the abdomen. A good number of this is attributable to the passing of coagulated blood through the cervix. Menstrual cramps can be treated with ibuprofen, stretching exercises or the application of heat through such way as warm baths or heating pads. Menstrual cramps that do not react to self-treatment can be a symptom of endometriosis or other health problems. A woman experiencing severe cramps should seek advice from a gynecologist. Writer's cramp, or mogigraphia, refers to a disorder of the hand, due to extreme fine motor activity, such as writing or playing the piano. It is suggested to medically as task-specific focal dystonia of the hand.

Mogigraphia

Mogigraphia is thought to consequence from a problem of control involving the basal ganglia of the brain. As well as writers, musicians have also been pretentious, including Leon Fleischer, whose performance career was limited for a time to performance of piano concertos for the left hand alone. Focal dystonias can be treated with injections of Botox in the exaggerated muscle groups to paralyze the overactive muscles. Postural techniques such as the Alexander Technique are also effectual in some cases.

A muscle cramp is a sudden, uncontrolled contraction of a muscle which really pains. Muscle cramps are most commonly experienced in the legs, and called a leg cramp or a charley horse. A leg muscle cramp occurs when the muscle suddenly and forcefully contracts. The most common muscles to cramp in this manner are muscles that cross two joints. Usually a leg cramp last less than one minute, but it may last several minutes before the contraction subsides. In some patients, the leg cramps occur primarily at night, and disturb the patient's sleep.

What Causes A Leg Cramp?

Though the exact cause of a leg cramp is not well understood, but there are some risk factors that are thought to contribute to this condition. They are muscle fatigue, heavy exercising, dehydration, high weight (not necessarily obesity) and electrolyte imbalances. The most common cause which is typically seen in patients who develop leg muscle cramps is exercising in an unusual way, meaning either more activity or some different exercise. Studies have determined that leg cramps are more common in young (adolescent age) and older (over 65) patients. Over-weight patients are more prone to developing leg cramps. Also, there are some medications that can cause side effects of leg cramping.

Few Ways to Prevent Leg Cramps:

Staying Hydrated – Though it has not been determined how dehydration and muscle cramping are related, but it is known that dehydration can influence leg cramps. Thus for preventing leg cramps, drink at least three full glasses of water each day, including one before bedtime. Also drink plenty of fluid before, during, and also after exercise.

Stretching Exercise – Stretching helps to relax muscle fibers. When working out, a good post-work out stretching routine will help to relax muscles and prevent cramps. Prevent vigorous exercise just prior to sleep.

Train gradually – it is important that one doesn't start vigorous exercising all of a sudden. Gradually build up an exercise program, and avoid sudden increases in activity. Never increase exercise over one week by more than 10% compared to the week before. Sudden changes in activities can also cause leg cramps.

One should speak with the practitioner about what sexual positions are safest as your pregnancy progresses. For instance, after the fourth or fifth month, a pregnant woman shouldn't lie flat on her back during sex, because it could put too much pressure on major blood vessels that supply the fetus and may cause lightheadedness or nausea for the mother. There is no difficulty with the woman being on top of her partner, however, or on her side. During dissimilar points in your pregnancy, you may find that some positions are more enjoyable than others are. Tune in to your body, and only do what feels at ease. Here are a number of positions that may feel more comfortable:

1. Both lying slanting. Known as "spooning" when you together face the same way in bed, this position takes the weight off you and leaves your partner free to maneuver without your belly between you. You can also countenance each other lying sideways as well.
2. Partner at the back you. This position not only foliage your partner free to maneuver, but it takes the weight and pressure off you as well.

Common concerns about sex during pregnancy

Other issues as well the safety of the baby may keep a couple from having sex. Some parents worry about worrying or scaring their unborn child, as if the developing baby is paying rapt attention during moments of intimacy. In realism, the baby isn't thinking about much and is safely insulated, so don't worry, as he won't be alarmed by your lovemaking. An expectant mother may terror that her swelling belly makes her less attractive, or she may not want her husband to touch her tender breasts. Pregnancies hormones make a number of women lose interest in sex, while others may find that their sex drive increases. At dissimilar points in your pregnancy, extreme fatigue, nausea, and other discomforts may make the very thought of sex unappealing.

Conclusion

Concerns like these are frequent. Pregnancy is a stirring, frightening time that triggers a range of emotions, positive and negative and full of emotions that are exacerbated by raging hormones. It is a time of fundamental transform in the life you and your partner have known together. Of course, it is also a joyous time, but even positive changes can put force on a relationship. Most couples are of the same opinion that having a child challenges their relationship in ways it has never been challenged before. Many women find they have cramps after sex, chiefly after an intense orgasm. This is owing to hormones in semen and contractions of pelvic muscles. Similarly, because the cervix is distended and well-supplied with blood in pregnancy, you may see a spot or two of blood after having sex.

Cramps can be highly painful for some. And though some rarely experience cramps, there are some who are regular sufferers. Such people must consider some cramp prevention options. Below is almost an exhaustive list of cramp prevention options that one could choose free.

Stretching exercises -
Though not backed by any solid proof, stretching exercises are the most commonly advised preventive option for cramps. In the beginning, do stretching exercises of affected muscles for about five minutes, three times a day. Also try to do the last exercise shortly before bedtime. If the cramps ease off, one can reduce the exercises to once or twice a day to keep the cramps away. For stretching calf muscles, stand about 60-90 cm from a wall and then by keeping the soles of your feet flat on the floor, bend forward and lean on the wall. This should make the calf muscles stretch. Doing this a number of times for as long as you can manage and I should be helpful.

Posture of the legs when resting in bed -
One must try to sleep in positions that prevent the calf muscle from shortening. The following are not proven treatments (from research studies), however some experts believe that they help in preventing cramps – using a pillow to prop the feet up in bed while sleeping on the back, hanging the feet over the end of the bed while sleeping on the front and keeping blankets loose at the foot of the bed for preventing toes and feet from pointing downwards during sleep.

Quinine
Quinine tablets are a common treatment which often reduces the number and severity of leg cramps, but may not stop them altogether. The normal dose is of one tablet at bedtime. A four week course is what is commonly tried at first and can be continued if frequency of leg cramps is reduced. Most people can take quinine, but is a complete no for pregnant ladies. Other conditions where one should avoid quinine are a previous reaction to quinine; a previous haemolytic anaemia; optic neuritis; glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

If one takes steps for leg cramps prevention, in most cases the cramps will soon become a story of the past.

With age or injury, the inner core of these cushions starts to dry up, causing the tough external rind to bulge, buckle, separate, or split into layers.

Cramps discography is al about the discs in your body. There are many a discs in all over your body. Lumbar discs are the structures that dish up as cushions between vertebrae of the spinal column. The center of the disc is generally a clump of soft, slippery, stringy tissue, which is sealed in what seems to be a fibrous, elastic outer rind built rather like the casing of an automobile tire. With age or injury, the inner core of these cushions starts to dry up, causing the tough external rind to bulge, buckle, separate, or split into layers. Edges of the covering start to pull away from the vertebral bones, and the vertebrae move closer together. There might be a loss in disc height and flexibility. Even though this is, to some extent, a natural process of aging and body repair, it can cause serious symptomatic problems.

More about the discs in the body

Disc degeneration frequently produces growth of new bone along the edges of the vertebrae and the facet joints and is sometimes called "arthritis." These bone "spurs" can lead to a narrowing of the space available for the spinal nerves and compression of nearby spinal nerves, possibly resulting in pain, numbness, and loss of strength of certain muscles. Herniated discs are commonly misnamed "slipped" discs and can take place from injury, low back loading, or spontaneously when the outer rind of the disc ruptures or herniated and the inside tissue breaks through its boundaries and puts pressure against the very sensitive spinal nerves. The slightest movement even a laugh, a sneeze, or a cough can lead to excruciating pain that runs into or shocks the leg and foot.

Conclusion

Anything that upsets the structural balance of the back and spine, including abnormal curvature, and poor posture, can cause disc-related problems. Having one leg that is shorter than the other can lead to a tilt in the spine resulting in unequal weight bearing, and may lead to damage of the discs. Any injury or imbalance of the ligaments and muscles, which help support, the spine can lead to abnormal pressure on the disc casing. Sometimes the tough but elastic fibers that make up the outer rind of the disc create to break down from injury, aging, or an inherited tendency. When this take place, the disc and attached bones may start to shift around or wobble. This creates unsteadiness in the spine and may be so painful as to require a bone-to-bone fusion. Deterioration of the little alignment joints of the spine may produce painful unsteadiness. It can also take place as a result of a fracture of the bony connection of the facets to the supporting vertebral body.

A leg cramp is a kind of pain that comes from a muscle in the leg. The leg cramp is due to a muscle spasm which is when a muscle contracts too hard. It generally occurs in one of the calf muscles, below and behind a knee. The small muscles of the feet are from time to time affected. A cramp pain naturally lasts a few minutes. In some cases it lasts just for seconds, but in some cases it can last up to 10 minutes and then the severity of the pain may vary. The muscle may stay tender for up to 24 hours after a leg cramp. Leg cramps generally occur when you are resting most commonly at night when in bed. These leg cramps may wake you up from sleep. It can become a distressing condition if your sleep is most often disturbed. Many people have an infrequent leg cramp. However, they take place frequently in some people. These leg cramps are more familiar in older people. About 1 in 3 people over the age of 60, and about half of people over the age of 80 have usual leg cramps. About 4 in 10 people who have leg cramps have at slightest three per week. They take place every day in some cases.

About 4 in 10 people who have leg cramps have at slightest three per week. They take place every day in some cases.

Causes of leg cramps

In most cases the reason of leg cramp is not known. One theory is that cramps take place when a muscle that is already in a shortened position is stimulated to contract. As the muscle is already shortened, to contract further may lead to the muscle to go into spasm. This regularly happens at night in bed as the natural position we lie in is with the knees slightly bent, and with feet pointing slightly downwards. In this position the calf muscle is somewhat shortened and prone to cramps. This theory explains why stretching exercises might cure the problem. With the above conditions the cramps would just is one of several other symptoms. Therefore, if you are otherwise well, and have no other unexplained symptoms, then the leg cramps are probable to be idiopathic.

Treatment for leg cramps

Stretching and massaging in the affected muscle can generally relieve an attack of cramp. Most cramps soon relieve off. Painkillers are not generally helpful for a sudden attack of cramp. However, a painkiller such as Paracetamol may help to relieve muscle discomfort and tenderness that sometimes persists for up to 24 hours after a cramp has gone. If cramps do not take place often, then no particular treatment is usually needed. However, if you have cramps most often, you may wish to consider ways of preventing them.

Pain is usually experienced in the abdomen and back. Cramps may not be seen during the first menstrual cycle and once when the cycles become regular, the hormone system develops fully, the cramps can get more severe.

About Menstrual Cramps -

Cramps may not be seen during the first menstrual cycle and once when the cycles become regular, the hormone system develops fully, the cramps can get more severe.

Menstrual cramps and PMS -

Menstrual cramps and PMS are not the same. PMS happens before the start of the menstrual cycles and improves as the cycles begin. Menstrual cramps occur only before and during the menstrual cycle and are painful only during these few days. Cramps have a different cause and treatment.

What can be done if one gets menstrual cramps?

Talking to parents or a doctor helps to a great extent. In case of severe cramps, 'antiprostaglandins' available over the counter of the drug stores can be taken. Ibuprofen (Advil, Mortin or Nuprin) or Naproxen Sodium (Aleve) can also be taken, however, before taking any medications; it is advisable to consult the doctor. Also the instructions on the label have to be read carefully. Those who are allergic to these medications or have other problems like stomach ulcers have to consult a doctor for alternative treatments.

A heating pad or a warm bath may relieve the pain to some extent. Every woman has to decide what suits best for her – exercising or no exercising during the menstrual cycle. A healthy diet, lots of water and fluids, sufficient rest during the period also helps.

Bad cramps -
If the menstrual cramps still persist in spite of adopting the above mentioned measures, or if the pain worsens, and does not respond to the medications, a doctor has to be consulted. Doctors may sometimes suggest birth control pills for those who have severe cramps, nausea and vomiting. These pills stop the ovulation resulting in lighter menstrual flow.

Heat cramps may occur during exercise or work in a hot environment or they may start a few hours later. Heat cramps mostly involve muscles that are fatigued by heavy work like calves, thighs, and shoulders. One is most at risk if one is doing work or activities in a hot environment–mostly during the first few days of an activity to which one is not used to. One is also at risk if one sweats a great deal during exercise and drinks large amounts of water or other fluids that lack salt. The symptoms of heat cramps are muscle spasms, painful, involuntary, brief, intermittent and usually self-limited (go away on their own).

Heat Cramps Causes
Though the exact cause of heat cramps is unknown, they are probably related to electrolyte problems. Essential minerals, like sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium, are known as electrolytes. These undergo chemical changes in your tissues and in case of an imbalance, problems can be caused.

When to Seek Medical Care -
As any patient would know, heat cramps can be quite painful. One should consider seeking medical attention if the symptoms do not go away with rest and even after restoring fluid and electrolytes. One must consult a doctor in case of the following conditions:

1. If one is unable to drink sufficient fluids due to nausea or vomiting. In such a case, one may need IV rehydration with normal saline.

2. Though rarely, heat cramps can even accompany heat exhaustion.

3. If one has more severe symptoms of heat illness, including dizziness, malaise, shortness of breath, fatigue, vomiting, headache, and high temperatures (greater than 104F), call the doctor for instructions.

Self-Care At Home For Heat Cramps -

As already mentioned, heat cramps generally go away without any treatment, only with some rest. They also seem to respond well to home care like resting in a cool place and drink fluid mixed with salt (making a salt solution by mixing 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon table salt dissolved in a quart of water). Even drinking commercially available electrolyte beverages will provide adequate dietary salt intake.

Ovulation is a phase of the female menstrual cycle, which involves the let go of an egg from one of the ovaries. For most women, ovulation occurs about once every month until menopause, spaced out from episodes of pregnancy and breastfeeding. About one in five women experience pain and uneasiness during ovulation. The duration of the pain varies from one woman to the after that, but ranges from a few minutes to 48 hours. In most cases, ovulation pain doesn't mean that anything is wrong. However, severe pain may sometimes be symptomatic of gynecological circumstances including endometriosis. See your doctor if your ovulation pain lasts longer than three days or is linked with other unusual menstrual symptoms, such as heavy bleeding. Ovulation pain is also well-known as mid-cycle pain and mittelschmerz.

Menstrual cramping during PMS is one of the most discomforting symptoms, and there is a diversity of treatments for women that are helpful in this and other PMS-related conditions.

About the premenstrual cramps

PMS hits women with opposed severities and differing side effects. Diet, vitamin and mineral supplements, prescription drugs, and alternative medicines can all be taken to have an effect on PMS in women. Because of the regularity of PMS occurrence, many women keep away from prescription medications that have to be taken every month in favor of herbal remedies and nutritional supplements. Natural health remedies for PMS are generally safe with little or no side effects, while stopping discomfort. Search online for PMS product reviews and recommendations that may be more valuable for your PMS. Eighty five percent of women are bothered by at slightest one physical or emotional symptom between ovulation and menstruation. When these symptoms get in the way with your normal activities and interaction, it is called Premenstrual Syndrome or PMS.

Symptoms

Because of the complexity of women's endocrine systems, researchers still don't know precisely why some women suffer from PMS and some don't. It can hit women at any time before menopause, frequently changing in intensity and harshness over time. Characteristically, it is the most severe in women in their twenties and thirties. As it is associated with ovulation, women who are pregnant, taking birth-control pills, and in menopause do not experience PMS. Though, there are similar hormone-related symptoms that can affect women who are not ovulating. Symptoms can change month to month; they can be aggravated by environmental factors such as stress and illness. There are over 150 well-known symptoms of PMS. Some of the most familiar are headache, fatigue, bloating, weight gain and water-retention, swollen and tender breasts, depression and anxiety, mood swings, muscle cramps, acne, food cravings, decreased libido, and disruption in sleep patterns.

By endometriosis biopsy I'm guessing you mean an endometrial biopsy, a test in which the doctor inserts a small device through the cervix into the uterine cavity in order to get a taster of the uterine lining tissue. An endometrial biopsy does not diagnose endometriosis. The only way to diagnose endometriosis for certain is to perform a laparoscopy, a surgical procedure in which the doctor inserts a telescope through a tiny slit in your belly button to view your pelvic organs directly. Severe pains and cramps around the time of your period can be because of endometriosis, a condition in which the uterine lining tissue gets outside the uterine cavity, lands in places in doesn't belong and causes pain.

Possibilities of severe cramps

Likelihood is adenomyosis, in which the uterine lining tissue penetrates into the wall of the uterus, again causing crampy pain; often bleeding is heavy with adenomyosis. A third likelihood is abnormal production of prostaglandins by your uterus, again causing cramps. Frequently, birth control pills plus a medication that inhibits prostaglandins are used to provide relief from severe cramps. This is often the first step and most of the time is very effective. If this conservative measure fails, then we will sometimes advocate a laparoscopy so we can look inside to see what is going on. During a laparoscopy, endometriosis can be diagnosed and treated, and nerves that go into the back of the uterus, transmitting pain signals, might be cut to provide relief.

Conclusion

As far as the headaches go, some women do experience migraine headaches connected to their menstrual cycles. These are from time to time difficult to treat and require a lot of communication between you and your doctor and often some trial and error in finding the best therapy for you. The most excellent person for you to see regarding your cramps is your gynecologist. This is amazing we deal with every day. Often medical therapy like birth control pills and a medicine like Anaprox will do the trick; from time to time a laparoscopy is needed. You will require it to discuss your options with your doctor.

The menstrual cramps are medically termed as dysmenorrhea. The rupturing of the ovarian follicle begins the menstrual cycle. This is under the effect of the hormone estrogen. There is another hormone, which is functioning called the Proglandins, which causes a certain amount of the swellings.

The types;
There are majority two types; the Primary and the Secondary.
The primary is caused by the regulation of the Proglandins. These result in the pain and inflammations in the uterine walls. This triggers the uterine contractions also.

The Secondary; this is due to the following reasons
Endometriosis; the innermost lining of the uterus is the endometrium and the disfuntion in the layer is called the endometriosis. This arises due to the faulty implantation of the tissues outside the uterus. This normally occurs on the fallopian tube. This results into pain.

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID): This is the result of the transmissio0n of bacteria through sexual routes. This may also arise due to unsafe intercourse or multiple partners.
Use of the Intra-uterine device (IUD); the device is made of plastic and it is 'T' shaped. This is due to the insertion of the mechanical barriers in the uterus, which causes the inflammations, swellings and the pain the walls.

Uterine fibroids and uterine polyps: The fibroids are normally termed as the begnin tumor. This is protected in a capsule. These generally are the protrusions in the uterine walls.

The effects
This may also result into early onset of Puberty and a medical history of painful menstruation

The screening and the diagnosis;

The diagonos is the visual display of the functioning of ones reproductive organs.
Secondary cramps can be detected by; Imaging testing; this include the computerized tommography (CT) and the MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
Laproscopy; this involves of the injection of the fiber-optic tubes in the uterus to view the tumors in the pelvic cavity.
Hysteroscopy; the insertion of a tube in the cervix and vagina to view the uterus

Complimentary relief
The complimentary cure for this malfunction could be yoga, meditation and certain de-stressing exercises. The technique of acupuncture is also found to be relieving. The best form of self-care methods would be regular check-up and adequate sleep.

Ovulation is a stage of the female menstrual cycle, which involves the release of an egg from one of the ovaries. For most women, ovulation takes place about once every month until menopause, apart from episodes of pregnancy and breastfeeding. About one in five women experience pain and discomfort all through ovulation. The duration of the pain varies from one woman to the after that, but ranges from a few minutes to 48 hours. In most cases, ovulation pain doesn't mean that whatever thing is wrong. However, brutal pain may sometimes be symptomatic of gynecological conditions including endometriosis. See your doctor if your ovulation cramp lasts longer than three days or is associated with other unusual menstrual symptoms, such as heavy bleeding. Ovulation cramp is also known as mid-cycle pain and mittelschmerz.

See your doctor if your ovulation cramp lasts longer than three days or is associated with other unusual menstrual symptoms, such as heavy bleeding. Ovulation cramp is also known as mid-cycle pain and mittelschmerz.

Symptoms

The symptoms of ovulation cramp can include, pain in the lower abdomen, just inside the hip bone. The pain classically occurs about two weeks before the menstrual period is due. The pain is felt on the right or left side, depending on which ovary is producing an egg. The pain may switch from one side to the other from one cycle to the next, or remain on one side for a few cycles. The pain sensation varies between individuals. As for example, it could feel like uncomfortable pressure, twinges, sharp pains or cramps. The duration of the cramp may range anywhere from a minute to 48 hours.

Theories on possible causes

The exact reason of ovulation pain is not clear, but theories include emerging follicle are the hormones that prompt the ovaries to produce around 20 follicles. Each follicle contains an immature egg but only one follicle by and large survives to maturity. It is hypothetical that ovulation pain is caused because of the expanding follicle which stretches the membrane of the ovary. Ruptured follicle is a circumstance wherein when the egg is mature, it bursts from the follicle. This may cause slight bleeding. The peritoneum might be irritated by the blood or fluids from the ruptured follicle and this may trigger the pain.

What Are Muscle Cramps?

A cramp can be defined as an involuntary and forcibly contracted muscle that does not relax. Cramps may affect any muscle under your voluntary control that is skeletal muscle. Muscles that span two joints are the ones that are most prone to cramping. Cramps can involve a part or all of muscle, or even several muscles in a group. The most commonly affected muscle groups are back of lower leg/calf, back of thigh (hamstrings) and front of thigh (quadriceps). Also, cramps in the feet, hands, arms, abdomen and along the rib cage are very common.

What Are Muscle Cramps?

A cramp can be defined as an involuntary and forcibly contracted muscle that does not relax. Cramps may affect any muscle under your voluntary control that is skeletal muscle. The most commonly affected muscle groups are back of lower leg/calf, back of thigh (hamstrings) and front of thigh (quadriceps). Also, cramps in the feet, hands, arms, abdomen and along the rib cage are very common.

Muscle cramps can range in intensity from a slight tic to highly agonizing pain. A cramping muscle may feel hard to the touch and/or appear visibly distorted or sometimes twitch beneath the skin. It may last a few seconds to 15 minutes or longer. Also it might recur multiple times before it actually goes away.

Treating Muscle Cramps

Generally, cramps go away on their own without the need for seeing a doctor. However one cant follow a few self-care tips to avoid them in future. These would include stopping whatever activity triggered the cramp and working towards better overall fitness. Doing regular flexibility exercises before and after you work out to stretch muscle groups most prone to cramping can be very helpful. Always warm up before stretching.

Certain stretches can also do a world of good for your cramping muscles. These include calf muscle stretch, hamstring muscle stretch and quadriceps muscle stretch.

1. Calf muscle stretch: In a standing lunge with both feet pointed forward, then straighten the rear leg.

2. Hamstring muscle stretch: Sit with one leg folded in and the other straight out, foot upright and toes, ankle relaxed. Lean forward slightly and touch the foot of straightened leg.

3. Quadriceps muscle stretch: While standing, hold the top of your foot with opposite hand and gently pull heel toward buttocks.

4. Release each stretch after holding briefly.

For treating a cramp that lasts long or refuses to go away, gently stretch and massage the cramping muscle, holding it in stretched position till the cramp stops. Another of treating the cramp is applying heat to tense or tight muscles, or cold to sore or tender muscles.
