Toothbrush for gum problem

The most important cause of gum disease is plaque. Plaque is a layer that builds up along the gum line and traps food and germs. Once settled in the germs attack the gums themselves by causing soreness and bleeding. The key to controlling plaque and tartar build up is a daily dental hygiene program. It includes brushing and flossing. There are two stages of gum disease. Gingivitis occurs when plaque has built up enough to cause tenderness and bleeding when brushing and flossing the teeth. The second serious stage of gum disease is called periodontitis. Periodontitis occurs when gingivitis has been left untreated and has progressed to this next level.

Timely change of toothbrush

Every one including adults and children should change their toothbrush every 3 months because they become damaged out and are not as useful as they once were. Exceptions to this would be if the person were using an electric toothbrush. Some electric rechargeable toothbrushes have very good brush heads that only need to be changed after 6 months. If the person has gum disease, one should change the toothbrush after 4 – 6 weeks because bacteria can dock in the bristles. When people get old they may worry about losing teeth. At late stage gum disease, is the primary cause of tooth loss in adults.
