Dry Skin can be overcome by a number of ways. Some of the remedies can be done at home itself. Aromatherapy or Food therapy is also recommended.

Remedies

Take a dishpan with warm water, a drop of dishwashing liquid and one cup of white vinegar. Steep the feet in it for half an hour. After removing the feet rinse and dry them. Apply an ointment meant for dry skin of feet. Instead of vinegar, half cup of baking soda can be added to warm water. But the mixture must be agitated to dissolve the soda. Buy a hair care lotion containing salicylic acid and use it for the feet. Let the lotion remain on the feet for the span advised for the scalp. Then wash the ointment with water and use clean cotton socks to hold the moisture. There must be a decreased use of deodorant soap, dehumidifiers, radiators and dryers. Cold-pressed olive oil also softens the dry skin and controls eczema. It can be used externally as well as internally.

10 drops of the essential oils – lavender, carrot seed, rosemary, Roman Chamomile, neroli – are added to 2 ounces of carrier oils – almond or sesame or olive. This blend is applied only once in a day after the bath when the skin is a little damp. This is called "Aromatherapy". "Food Therapy" recommends eating fish minimum two times in a week. Herring, Salmon, Mackerel, Cold water fish contain oil which revives the moisture in the skin. Also consuming 2 tablespoons of flaxseed oil will also be helpful. Dry Skin can be reformed, by including healthy oils (eg that procured from nuts) in the diet. Honey heals and moisturizes the skin. Not only does it remove the dead skin cells but also promotes renewal and regrowth of new tissues. In cases of severe dry skin, apply honey on the skin and tie a bandage on it. Another natural moisturizer is the Yogurt. Also Oatmeal helps to soothe the dry skin. Another method is to add one teaspoon of dried herbs (like dandelion, borage, chamomile) to one cup of boiling water and soak it for five minutes. Then take this mixture internally.

Thus, depending on the availability of materials any method can be chosen.
