Timing intercourse for better ovulation.

In recent years fertility problems are haunting most couples. Most women are unaware of when ovulation implantation occurs, and what is the best time for intercourse to achieve pregnancy. Considering the alarming rates of miscarriages and infertility scientists have come up with various methods to improve fertility and achieve pregnancy. Timing intercourse is the base of all techniques to improve fertility.

Recommended time for intercourse

According to various researches and experimentation most doctors recommend that pregnancy can be successfully achieved if intercourse occurs within 6 days prior to and including the ovulation day. Intercourse after the day of ovulation will not result in pregnancy. The best timing to intercourse to achieve pregnancy for a woman with 28-day cycle would be days 10, 12, 14 and incase of late ovulation, day 16. Incase the cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days try to have intercourse on -4, -2, 0, +2 days with respect to the expected ovulation day.

Methods and tests for determining timing

With the latest advances in medical science various methods and tests have been developed for determining, with a high degree of certainty, when your ovulation occurs. Some of the most highly used methods also called as tools for timing are discussed below.

1. Basal Body Temperature
Under this method women are required to maintain a record of their BBT i.e. the core body temperature of a person immediately upon awakening. BBT records combined with cervical mucus position monitoring will tell you that you have ovulated. The method will also tell you the safest times to have sex in order to plan or even postpone pregnancy.

2. Ovulation Urine Tests
This method involves measurement of LH concentration in your urine. These tests must be performed daily usually from the 10th day of your cycle until you get a positive result. A surge in LH levels represents approaching ovulation, usually within 24 to 48 hours from a positive result.

Saliva Ovulation predictor tests, Clear plan fertility monitor, and OvaCue fertility monitor are other timing tools that will help you to time your intercourse.

Timing intercourse has reduced miscarriages rates remarkably, further timing intercourse is also crucial for achieving pregnancy and improving fertility.
