How to avoid caffeine for fertility

Reduce caffeine intake to improve fertility

Numerous scientific studies and experimentation have concluded that excessive intake of caffeine can affect fertility of both men and women. In fact caffeine leads to serious pregnancy problems in women. However moderate and controlled intake of caffeine is not considered to be harmful for the human fertility.

Caffeine: Its effects on women fertility

An intake of less than 300 mg of caffeine is thought to be reasonable for women, however it is more advisable to cut it out completely. Since caffeine has not nutritional value it is a junk for the body. On the other hand caffeine can even cause your bones to lose some calcium, an important nutrient for healthy pregnancy. Researches have also proved that in women consuming caffeine more than 300 mg take longer to conceive compared to others. Similarly the chances of miscarriages are higher with women who have caffeine content exceeding 300 mg.

Caffeine: Its effects on men fertility

After extensive research and studies scientists have discovered that men with a habit of excessive coffee and tea have more fertility problems than others. The main reason concluded is that caffeine leads to improper growth of sperms and fewer sperms overall. Uncontrolled intake of caffeine can also lead to impotency.

Items containing caffeine

All types of coffee have caffeine content but in distinct proportions. For instance 8 ounce of brewed coffee contains 75 to 135 mg caffeine, while instant coffee contains 95 mg caffeine for same quantity. Varying caffeine contents are also found brewed tea, green tea, instant tea and iced tea. Most chocolates and chocolate syrups and energy drinks also have caffeine that is harmful for fertility.

Nutritious options

Caffeine greatly affects the fertility of both men and women. As an option once one can reduce their caffeine intake, better if completely eliminated from one's life. Steamed milk with a shot of flavored syrup or powders can be a good substitute for coffee. Milk also provides the calcium, which is good for the body. Nutritious options are better and healthier.
