Wheel chairs are a blessing to those who have restricted mobility as they provide the most important thing to all of us: the freedom to move and do what we please when we please, whether it is in the house or outdoors. However, wheel chairs need maintenance and wheelchair tires need replacing from time to time; here are some suggestions that may help you with your wheelchair tires in the future.

Different Types Of Wheelchairs

There are many types of wheelchairs specially designed for different types of activities and the wheelchair's tires a made to match, for example, if you live in a rural area where the streets and roads are a bit rough you may need a wheelchair tires that are broad and strong enough not sustain it.

Some even attend competitions and sports events in wheelchairs such as wheelchair racing, tennis and many others for which it is important that the wheelchair tires are strong, durable and provide stability to the wheelchair when in motion at high speed, which may be required in some of these activities.

If however you require a wheelchair for house use only, you may not want to invest in wheelchair tires that are fit for rough terrain and extreme sports activities, which cost a bit more then the normal wheelchair tire does.

Things To Remember When Choosing The Wheelchair Tires

The tires of the wheelchair act as your legs, which sustain the entire body weight as well as ensure that you get everywhere you wish, therefore ensuring that they are strong is the first priority whether you will be using the wheelchair only in the house or outdoors as well.

The wheelchair tires should be easy to change and if possible it should be something you could do by yourself, if your physical health allows it; modern electric wheelchairs can have the tire replaced in minutes and most times by the person who uses the wheelchair. However, wheelchair companies provide services that will at times include changing on the wheelchair tires as well, this is something you will find out at the time of purchasing the wheelchair.

Always have an extra wheelchair tire available handy in case of any emergency such as a time when you cannot access the service company to provide you with one right away and yet you will need to continue using your wheelchair as usual in order to go about living life as normal.
