Toothbrush: a general overview

Toothbrush is a tool used to clean teeth that consist a small brush on a handle. Toothpaste is regularly added to a toothbrush to aid in cleaning. Toothbrushes are offered with varying textures of bristles and come in many different sizes and forms. Most dentists advise using a toothbrush labeled Soft. As firmer bristled toothbrushes can damage enamel and aggravate gums. Toothbrushes are made from synthetic materials, though natural toothbrushes are known in many parts of the world.

How to keep toothbrush clean

Keep toothbrush in a cabinet or use a toothbrush protector. Do not keep plenty of brushes in one cup. They will rub together and spread germs and wash hands before handling toothbrush. Wash toothbrush before and after every use as this constitutes holding it under running water and rubbing thumb over it with force. Replace toothbrush every three to four months. By storing toothbrush in a 3% Hydrogen Peroxide solution can keep toothbrush clean. Pour some mouthwash that contains alcohol into a small cup and stir it with the bristled end of the brush for thirty seconds. The alcohol will kill off most of the bacteria. By keeping the toothbrush as far away from the toilet as possible. By simply putting down the top lid before flushing cuts down the flying bacteria from waste matter by huge amounts. The fecal germs are just as common in the rest of the house as next to an open toilet. If anyone in the home gets an infectious sickness, throw their brush and any other brush it came into contact with them. Their sickness can spread along the toothbrush.

Important tips

If one keeps toothbrush in a toothbrush protector, make sure it is dry before using the toothbrush protector. Failure to do so may lead to the growth of mold on the bristles. Toothbrush can be bought with toothbrush holders with holes for ventilation and that will help in storage and prevent mold. Note that toothpaste is required while brushing, as it provides a lubricant to help protect the enamel on the teeth. Living in a very germ-free environment for long periods of time can decrease the immunity. This does not mean that keeping the toothbrush clean will decrease the immunity. It means that keeping everything sterile can lead to a decrease in immunity.
