Smooth foot

Reasons for Rough Feet

Moving barefooted and using sandals or thongs can make feet rough. They are also caused by dry weather. Skin that peels and cracks is pain causing and unaesthetic. Calluses and exfoliation of the skin causes rough feet. Use of razors blades, liquid corn and callus removers, corn plasters can further damage the skin. Walking on hot sand can also cause rough feet.

Procedure for having Smooth Feet

Fill a bucket or bathtub with warm water and mix foot soak or bath salts or kitchen salt in it. Clear off nail polish from the toes or else they wont get soaked. Soak feet for 20 minutes. Rub heels and hard skin by using a pumice stone. It is available in various shapes and sizes in a hardware store or cleaning department of a grocery store. Take care while using it. Rubbing too hard can be painful. Move the stone over rough heels or balls with a to and fro motion. Dry the feet with a towel and apply some cream like Silk Smooth Foot Crme or a thin coat of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) on the top and bottom of the feet. Do not apply lotion, cream or petroleum jelly between the toes as this may lead to an infection. Use thick socks so as to prevent the Vaseline from escaping. Reiterate this process thrice a week. After repeating this process several times, the feet will become smooth. Trim the toenails and cut them in a square shape. Do not cut the cuticles as they cease motion of bacteria in the skin. Apply nail polish and rub olive oil on the cuticles. It should be noted that those who wear socks and shoes all the period they walk have unbelievably smooth feet. They never get rough.

Foot Treatment

Some foot treatments are developed to overcome rough feet, due to cracks. Products, which do not produce wounds, are used. After one treatment itself, the results are effective and after three, three-fourth of people do not suffer from foot cracks, while the remaining have minimum cracking. This treatment is useful for diabetic people suffering from cracks.
