If you suffer from panic attacks then you may feel overwhelmed and at a loss and are most likely thinking about how there is nothing out there that can help you. However, this is certainly not true and you need to know that there are many different forms of panic attack treatment that you can choose from and so you will want to use all of the available forms of panic attack treatment that you can in order to help yourself with your problem.

More About Panic Attack Treatment Options

In regards to panic attack treatment options that are available, it is thought that these forms of panic attack treatment are very effective and as well, the outlook is good if you seek help and most people are eventually able to resume everyday activities. The most common forms of treatment include that of the following:

Medications are one of the most popular forms of treatment for panic attacks, and your doctor may prescribe an antidepressant medication such as sertraline, paroxetine, or fluoxetine. These antidepressant medications usually are able to improve or even eliminate altogether the symptoms of panic attacks, and to relieve the anxiety that is involved, your doctor may also prescribe a type of medication called a benzodiazepine, such as clonazepam.

The main problem with this however is that many people find that they become addicted to this form of treatment and so you need to know that if you think at all that you may have become mentally or physically dependant on a benzodiazepine medication, then you can check with your doctor. As well, do not stop taking your medication suddenly as this can have negative effects, and the duration of drug treatment for panic attacks depends on the severity of your disorder and your response to the treatment.

There is also something that is known as cognitive behavior therapy, and during sessions with your psychiatrist or psychologist, you will be able to learn how to better understand your panic attacks and as well you will learn how to properly deal with them which of course is just as important if not more so. The actual behavioral part of this therapy involves that of learning of ways to cope with your anxiety, such as using breathing and relaxation techniques for example. All of these methods are sure to help you out immensely.
